21 April 2008

i went outside and noticed more spring had arrived...

Maidenhair_one

Maidenhair_two

Maidenhair_three

my maidenhair fern, just beginning to unfurl itself.  so tender and fragile...

they look a bit otherworldly, seen up-close like this... i will have to remember to go back to see what happens over the next week or so. i will need to get out there again because my little apple tree is just starting to show the pink in it's flowers.  that means another trip through the neighborhood collecting pollen doing my best to johnny appleseed my way to some kind of crop.

obviously the sun was shining this afternoon, that hasn't been the case lately so even a tiny bit has been quite welcome.

I just came back to your blog after not visiting for several months. Your pictures and work are so beautiful, why did I stay away? I lost my beloved dog Casey right at the same time you lost yours. Every time I clicked on that picture I would cry again, (like I'm crying now.) Such perfect sweet friends dogs are - even though I have recently adopted another, who I already love to bits, I miss dear Casey. And probably always will. Hope your heart has healed.
And I am glad to have remembered your blog and to see your gorgeous photos. Our Pacific Northwest spring has been slow coming this year, hasn't it?

Neat pics!

You are the pollinator? Now that is dedication woman! And those ferns look good enough to eat.

i love the unfurling process....

lovely photos, Stephanie. I see hwy they are called fiddle heads!

Fantastic, wonderful photos. I love how bright & detailed they are--such a rarity with the gray light we get here.
